Easter baskets.

Well I raided the Target $1 section this morning. I wanted to find some goodies for the girls' Easter baskets. I was planning on making the baskets themselves, but found a couple cute ones for only $1.50 there, Maddie picked out the purple one for herself. I finally got them dresses to wear on Easter Sunday too [I bought these ones from Target from my earlier post, only $9.99!]. I had a coupon so I ended up buying the girls shoes too, neither of them have a pair of nice shoes & they will fit all through summer which will be nice.

Here are a couple super cute DIY Easter baskets I found..
I would absolutely love to make THIS ONE, maybe next year when I have a sewing machine [hint hint].
I thought about making ones LIKE THIS for this Easter but I thought the $1.99 baskets were a good deal, and they will come in handy again I'm sure.

Weekend [& Easter] fun.

We had a wonderful weekend. We all stayed in all weekend with not much to do it was nice, not to mention I got a new lens for my camera on Friday.
[I have been playing with it all weekend, so bear with me on the new settings and stuff I am getting used to.]
On Saturday we had an Easter egg hunt to go to. Maddie loved it, especially because there was candy involved.

The Easter Bunny was also there, and surprisingly Maddie loved it, and Josie did not. It was a little chilly but by the end of the day the sun warmed everything up a little bit and the girls and I played with chalk while daddy went golfing.

On Sunday Maddie and I made yummy Rice Krispie treat Easter eggs.

We used the original Rice Krispies treat recipe...

After we mixed up the treats we put them in the fridge for about 30 min so we could shape them into eggs.

Then melted some semi-sweet chocolate to dip the "eggs" in. We had some left over sprinkles that we used [time to re-stock now, that is always fun] & added a couple with pink icing for some color. I just stuck the finished eggs in cupcake holders over green tissue paper, it turned out so cute!

We went to my mother-in-law's parents house for dinner and took them as desert, there were none left so that's always a good sign!

I still have to get the girlies Easter dresses! I am going to make a couple baskets for them and fill them with little goodies. I always loved waking up Easter morning to search for my hidden basket. The girls are a little young for that still but it is still fun putting baskets together for them. That definetly means a Target run this week, yay! More Easter fun this week and next weekend.

Rain Rain go Away.

Today was a rainy Thursday, we stayed in and played & cleaned. Josie decided she wanted to try some of her sisters Goldfish for snack this morning. I came around the corner and she had grabbed the box [baby's arms are always longer than you think, right?!] and was trying so hard to get some..
It was too cute, I couldn't resist..

Yumm!! After all that hard work how could I turn her down? She is getting so big so fast. She is 10 months now and she is walking all over the place. She can stand herself up and walk without pulling up on anything, thats how I know she is close to being a full-time walker.

Just another Wednesday here.

Well, its always one thing after another right?! Our dryer went out on us on Sunday and trying to get someone scheduled to come and fix it hasn't been the easiest process. Our computer has also been sick, it will work for about 5-10min then just shut off [thank goodness blogger auto saves every few seconds]. We are going to invest in a new computer in a few weeks anyway so just have to live with it, or really without it. It has been beautiful outside so it has been esay to unplug and play in the sun.
I'm excited to get a new lens for my camera. I'm getting a used 50mm/1.8f from my friend's sister. I can't wait to play with it, and of course practice with the girlies.
I've had Spring and Easter on the brain. I am keeping my eyes out for some cute Easter dresses for the girls & some Spring outfits in general. I'm thinking flowers, flowy dress, & skirts.

I love these dresses from Target, and they are really inexpensive.
and I LOVE these t-shirts from JCrew's crewcuts  line. Just for fun.

We didn't do much for St. Patrick's day this year, it was just another Wednesday for us. Next year when the girls are older and understand [well at least Maddie will] a little more it will be lots of fun! I remember being little and waking up to find a trail of gold coin chocolates to try to find the leprechaun. Green pancakes and green eggs, there is no way Maddie would touch them right now, she is already a picky enough eater.

Well hopefully a fun post to come next.

spring wish list.

Spring is on its waaay!! Can you tell I'm excited. I have been going stir crazy with these girlies, as I'm sure they are feeling the same. There are only so many times you can go to Target as a field trip. I wanted to share some things I'm adding to my Spring [&Summer] wish list.

I have an everlasting love for sun dresses. I love the look of this short dress and can't wait for cute floral tanks & tees. Both of these are from Anthropologie.

These blazers are really in right now too, I'm taking inspiration from this Urban Outfitters one. I'm sure I can find a cheaper one from Forever21, but haven't really been looking. It looks great over a cute dress or even with a t-shirt & jeans.
I'm not big on little purses, because I'm used to having a diaper bag glued to my shoulder, but I think a little bag when I'm running solo could come in good use. This cute little Penelope Signature Swingback by Coach would be perfect. I like the brass/khaki/gold colored one.

I am in dyer need of a pair of new [dressier] Spring/Summer shoes.. Every girls needs a pair of wedges like THESE from JCrew.

I absolutley cannot wait to plant flowers for this Spring and Summer. I have a perfect place on the side of our yard for some beautiful Sunflowers.

On the other side of our yard I have been bugging my husband to look into putting up a white picket fence. I found this one at Home Depot. It is about $22/ 8ft, and you paint it yourself.

Can you say obsessed? All I want for the girls this Spring/Summer are these smocked dresses.. you can pretty much find any kind on Etsy of course.

i heart sunshine.

Madeleine and I spent the afternoon outside. It was beautiful out and the sunshine felt so good. She is such a free spirit, she is all into sticks, leaves, rocks and whatever else will fit in her pockets. We played with the neighbor's dogs for a little bit and Maddie practiced her golf swing. Josie would have loved the fresh air, but she opted for a 2 hour nap, which made me very happy. Can't wait to see the trees green and the flowers budding or to get out there and start planting some. I am definetly planting sunflowers this year [they are my favorite flowers].

Girl's night.

My girlfriends and I are getting together tonight, and I'm so excited! A few girls I haven't seen in a while and my one girlfriend is in town from Chicago for her bridal shower that is tomorrow. It should be a fun time tonight!!
The sun is shining here and it feels so wonderful!! I can feel the days getting longer already. I can't wait for flip flops, sundresses & big hats. I have been going through some of the girls' spring/summer clothes and looks like we are going to need to do some shopping for Maddie at least, she's getting too big. She has been asking to wear her crocs all the time lately but they are too small, we went to Target to find some but of course they didn't have her size. I love that she is really starting to tell me what she wants to wear and, ahem, not wear.
Well hope everyone is having as wonderful a Saturday as we are.
Definetly looking forward to a relaxing Sunday afternoon & night with my family tomorrow.

Hina Matsuri

{photo via EugenuisD80}

Hina Matsuri -Japanese tradition-(Doll Festival) takes place on March 3 and celebrates "Girls' Day". This is the day families pray for the happiness and prosperity of their girls and to help ensure that they grow up healthy and beautiful.

Learn more here.

I thought this was cute, and so appropriate since I have two wonderful little girls. Even though this is not a tradition we follow it is always great to see how other cultures celebrate each other.
